Junior Development Program 2009

The Mount Washington Nordic Club is working in conjunction with Jackson XC and Great Glen Trails on an expanded Junior Program.  Now in its 10th year, the Junior Program focuses on learning to ski, improving technique and developing fitness for aspiring skiers.  Juniors from 12 – 18 can join the program that includes high level coaching, ski skills development in both freestyle and classic technique and race tactics.

The Mount Washington Nordic Club has teamed up with Great Glen Trails and Jackson Ski Touring Foundation to bring this program to both areas, alternating locations starting 11/2/08 at GGT and finishing 2/16/09 at JSTF.

The rate to participate is $25+trail pass for one day or $200 for the season which also includes a 2008/2009 Season Passes to Jackson Ski Touring Foundation and Great Glen Trails.

Coaches Steve Vosburgh and Pete Brockett will be in attendance again this season to give attention to our junior skiers.  Throughout the season, the coaches will provide personal attention and evaluate each individual’s skills.
2007-2008 MWV Nordic Junior Development Program

The program focuses on:
•    Skills development in both freestyle and classic technique
•    Individual video analysis and race video analysis
•    Waxing for classic technique
•    Cornering and downhills
•    Race tactics
•    In-season race evaluation and specific attention to strengthening skills

The Seasonal Program includes:
•    Eight Sunday sessions
•    2008-2009 Season Passes to Jackson Ski Touring Foundation and Great Glen Trails
•    Two and a half hours of instructional skiing
•    Special Team pricing on equipment purchases

Coaches:

Steve Vosburgh has spent the last 20+ years coaching Nordic skiers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.  He continues to enjoy and excel at local and regional races and will participate along with the athletes. He will utilize video and other teaching resources to create a valuable learning experience.

Pete Brockett, a Gorham resident, joined Great Glen’s staff in ’02 as a ski instructor. He also has assisted with coaching skiers at Gorham High School.
